Sometimes we lack the confidence to fully accomplish who we are capable of becoming.
As a kite is with its string. There are many ways to be anchored.
The most powerful way to be anchored is to KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
You are a Spirit child of your Heavenly Father.
We are both Physical beings, as well as Spiritual beings.
It takes dedicated focus to really connect to our true Spiritual self.
Then you can better negotiate this life in many ways.
5 Ways to help us.
When we understand who we are....
1. We recognize our own potential. The self doubt and other beliefs that stem from our experiences, real as they are, and important as they may be to our mortal experience....they are not the true self.
These challenges are needed for our growth...just as a kite needs a strong opposing wind to Soar.
These can happen at ANY time.
Beware the temptation to retreat from a good thing. Don't give up when the pressure mounts!
2. We recognize that others are also Spirit beings.
We respect all. When we see through the eyes of our true self, we see others who they actually are, Spiritual sons and daughters of God. We try NOT to cause harm to others.
Picture others in a way that you see the BEST in others. We have the responsibility to see individuals (not as they are) but rather as they can become.
3. We are willing to forgive
When someone wrongs us, intentionally or not, we may feel offended, and we carry the chip on our shoulders, it becomes heavy to carry and no one benefits. We can take a step back and reach to our true self and forgive others as well as ourselves. We can take a moment to see the other person as a child of God. We don't condone negative behavior....however give others the benefit of the doubt.
"Each of us is under a divinely spoken obligation to reach out with Pardon and Mercy and to forgive one another. There is a great need for this Christlike attribute in our families, in our marriages, in our communities, and in our nations. We will receive the Joy of Forgiveness in our own lives when we are willing to extend that Joy freely to others.
Lip service is not enough. We need to purge our hearts and minds of feelings and thoughts of 'bitterness' and let the light and the love of Christ enter in. As a result, the Spirit of the Lord will fill our soul with Joy accompanying Divine Peace of conscience. "
(Dieter F Uchtdorf -
4. We give and receive freely. When you freely receive, freely give to others. Give of your time, your talents, your love, yourself, your appreciation.
~ If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one life the aching
or cool one pain
Or help one fainting Robin
unto his nest again
I shall not live in vain.
Recognize the abundance around you!
5. We recognize that Heavenly Father loves us!
We understand Jesus Christ's sacrifice for us. We understand these things from an Eternal perspective. "The Peace Christ gives allows us to view mortality through the precious perspective of Eternity and supplies a Spiritual settledness that helps us maintain a consistent focus on our Heavenly Destination!" ~ David A Bednar
~We are NOT human beings having a Spiritual experience... we are Spiritual beings having a human experience.
This human experience carries with it challenges, as we struggle to negotiate these mortal experiences. As we connect to our true self.....Each mortal experience can become a Spiritual experience.
Be Anchored, to be able to Soar.
Anchor yourself in knowing that you are a Spiritual being of a loving Heavenly Father.
Soar, to not be afraid to meet your full potential and to seek out and make your unique contribution to humanity, whether it be a Computer Scientist, or a Medical Doctor, or a Musician, or a young Father trying to teach his children WHO they are.
Understanding your True Self, allows you to see others as Spiritual beings of great worth...whom you would NOT intentional harm.
It allows you to more easily forgive others, to give and to receive, and above all it allows you to more fully appreciate the love of your Father In Heaven, and the Gift of the Atonement.
He loves each of us, of this I testify.
